 Tank top systems  


To be used in a system for remote control of the working pressure
in tanks where a process creates decreasing pressure.
Can also be applied in conjunction with the Pressure exhaust
(PE) valve for tanks requiring a constant top pressure during
process steps creating increasing as well as decreasing pressures
(see separate PD leaflet for SCANDI BREW® Constant
pressure system).

The PS valve is produced with weld type end on supply side
and can be delivered with threads acc. to customer specifications
- on tank side the valve is only available as follows:
Size 11⁄2 ”: 21⁄2” male thread acc. to DS 722
Size 2”: NW 80 male thread acc.
to DIN 11851
Max. working pressure: 4 bar (57 psi)
Gas supply: Between 1-2 bar above working
pressure max. 6 bar (86 psi)
Connection for control air is as standard delivered with fitting
for 4/6 mm nylon hose.
A pressure transmission pipe is connected between the lower
side of the PS valve and the tank top. If cleaning of this pipe
is required, a change-over valve with bypass CIP supply is

The PS valve is operated by means of the set point pressure
that is identical to the required tank top pressure.

The set point pressure is applied to the top of the PS valve.
Together with the reference pressure (actual tank top pressure),
which is connected to the lower side of the PS valve
via a pressure transmission pipe, the PS valve will automatically
open for gas supply, when the tank pressure falls below
set point pressure.
The set point pressure is either reduced to the required pressure
by means of a manual precision regulator or an IP converter
controlled by a PLC.


The PS valve should always be in line cleaned in the same
direction as air flow. To secure an open valve during cleaning,
set point pressure should not be disconnected.
This valve is necessary in case a CIP flow through the pressure
transmission pipe is required.

The PS valve is typically part of a constant pressure system
or mounted elsewhere in the pipework.
The valve must always be mounted vertically on a conical
pipe connection to obtain free operation of valve disc.

It is important that the valve is inspected regularly. The PS
valve is equipped with a small hole in the side of the housing.

This hole will indicate a possible leakage.
Routine checks for leakages of gas or liquid from this hole
should be made regularly.
Gaskets and O-rings to be replaced approx. every 2-3 years.

90° bends:
11⁄2” or 2” with connection for 6-8 mm stainless steel pressure
transmission pipe with fittings.
Change-over valve:
Required if CIP flow through the transmission pipe is necessary.
